Boy am I excited for some quality internet time. I have some great pictures to share with you all. And stories.
Dan got a deer from his deer hunt and I helped cut it's head off. After hanging it in the garage (and skinning it, etc.) I'll be cutting it up, deboning it, and getting it ready to be turned into burger. Isn't that exciting? What a new experience. Sometimes I wonder if people think that I live a wierd hick, backwoods, life but then again, this morning, my boss said that my life definately isn't boring, now is it. That's what matters right? I do have fun. I love adding adventure to it all.
Would the deer cutting pictures be to gross for you all? I just think of it as cutting up any other kind of meat in the kitchen.
I met a great little lady today. A couple of weeks ago Hannelle showed me this book she found in the McMaster library. It's a book exploring native women's dreams. The book seemed super interesting to me as I'm attracted to dream work, especially Jungian influenced work. This book definately was. So I flipped to the back of the book to read about the author, and low and behold she's from my town!! I didn't think anything educated came from my town (no offence but sometimes my town is even more backwater than I am). That was so exciting to me. I wanted to get a hold of her but was afraid of sounding like I was stalking the author. I looked her up in the phone book (living in the same town helps) and left a message on the machine. She called back twice (!) and on the second time, she got a hold of me. What an experience. Her name is Sheila. She also got her MA at the same university and program that I am looking into. Isn't that neat? What a good source to use when looking into it (and maybe applying). So it turns out that this book was a volunteer experience for her and she was never funded for it. She had only a small number of books printed and had given them to the libraries in the area and had left it to experience. It was only published in 2001 but she hadn't thought of it for a while so when she had heard that someone had found, read, and used her book in a presentation she was really excited. So we talked on the phone for almost an hour! And then, this morning, I went to her place. She works with youth and has a huge heart. She runs a camp/afterschool program. She almost seemed to heartfelt for real life. Here's the kicker: she uses animals and her small little hobby farm (all donated animals) for working with the kids. She's got 2 pot-bellied pigs, 2 pygmie goats, chickens 4-5 horses (one is only the size of my dog; it's the smallest in Canada) and lots of cats. And she's lives so close to me. Isn't it so bizarre? Too much of a coincidence? There probably isn't a paid job there that would be available for me but but I can see volunteer work being a possibility. Oh, and she gave me a copy of the book. I'm really excited about this. It will be interesting to see what comes out of it all.

To find a kindred spirit is so special. I hope that you and Sheila will become fast friends. As for volunteer work, it can be so rewarding and maybe it will actually help you find paid employment in the same organization. That's what happened to me!

michelle,
You know what, it's not really that bloody. The blood has all drained out already. So cutting it up was just like cutting up any kind of stewing meat off the bone in the kitchen. Just bigger.

I definately need to tell the story again. I'll do it again in the next post

Linda, I kinda hope she becomes a kindred spirit too. She is very much like my mentor, a professor of mine. I think she's more interested in my mentor than she is in me though. I hope that i can volunteer there. Working would be even better. Sometimes I think that I don't put enough hope into potential paths.
